Why solar PV

Map of Africa

Why solar PV? Simply because it makes sense from a financial and environmental point of view. What’s more, solar PV is safe and reliable.

1. Solar energy is free and reduces my electricity bill. The sun is the only resource needed to power a solar PV system. It is abundant in Seychelles and does not send a bill every month!

You can save up to100% of your electricity costs for residential premises, and up to 50% for commercial premises.

Depending on applicable PUC rates, roof inclination, size of PV system and financial support, the typical pay back period of a PV system is comprised between 3 and 5 years. This means that a PV system costing SCR100,000 would reduce your PUC bill by SCR20,000 to SCR30,000 per annum.

2. Solar PV protects the environment. When using a PV system, you actively contribute to reducing the combustion of imported fossil fuels and the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) by PUC Electricity. For example, a 10kWp PV system saves around 11 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to a car driving 73,000km.

3. PV technology is safe and reliable. We use German-made SolarWorld PV modules and SMA inverters. PV modules have a 10 year manufacturer warranty and a groundbreaking linear performance guarantee of 30 years (meaning a guaranteed module performance of 90% after 21 years, and 86.8% after 30 years). Inverters have a 5 year manufacturer warranty which can be extended to 10 years.
